A Short Pause in Sapanca: A Clear, Simple Start to 2022

We met in Sapanca in March 2022. The goal was to step out of the sprint for a moment and choose the work that would add the most value to clinics’ daily routines. By the lake, at an easy pace, we noticed something simple: sometimes the fastest way forward is to drop what’s extra and focus on what matters.

What We Discussed and Clarified

  • Appointment flow: Reduce repeated steps and simplify screen transitions.

  • Record structure: Keep patient notes, treatment history, and payments together.

  • Mobile use: Make more quick actions possible on the phone.

  • Integrations: Speed up and stabilize data flow with external systems.

  • Reporting: Make end-of-day and productivity reports available in one click.

These sound technical, but they all serve one purpose: lighten daily workload and leave more time for the patient.

How the Day Ran

Mornings started with quick check-ins: “What can we finish today that will make work easier?”
Afternoons split into two tracks:

  • Product: Feedback, prioritization, clearing technical debt, small but high-impact UI/UX fixes.

  • Growth: Market expansion options, retention ideas, partnerships, and a steady content plan.
Evenings were for honest conversations—not screens. Those talks made the next day’s decisions clearer.

Tangible Outcomes for Clinics

  • Less waiting: Calendars and lists load faster.

  • Fewer clicks: Common actions moved up front as “shortcuts.”

  • Clearer forms: Required fields reduce missing or incorrect entries.

  • Steady reminders: Shorter SMS/email copy improved response rates.

  • One-screen visibility: Notes, treatments, and payments viewed without hopping around.

  • Understandable reports: End-of-day, productivity, and finance screens trimmed of extra filters.

Short version: Less friction, more patient time.

2022 Focus List

  • Strengthen mobile experience: Key flows done in a few taps.

  • Simplify integrations: Cleaner API docs and stable connections.

  • Speed and performance: Fix slow queries that cause lag.

  • Content and training: Short videos and guides that leave no question marks.

Small Decisions, Big Effect

The most valuable output was a list of “small changes with immediate impact.” Big projects matter, but small, everyday improvements are felt sooner. For example:

  • Swapping two fields in “new appointment” lowered average task time.

  • Trimming reminder text below 140 characters increased reply rates.

  • Moving the date picker to the top of the report screen cut repeat clicks.

No need to dwell on numbers here—the summary is simple: fewer but better changes brought noticeable relief to busy clinic days.

Why Share This?

Because the real question for clinic teams isn’t “which button moved?”—it’s how much time they get back by day’s end. This post isn’t to talk about “us,” but to make practical, workload-reducing changes visible.

A Bridge to 2023

That brief stop in Sapanca turned into regular mini-meetups afterward. Instead of bulky plans, we adopted small, shippable packets of work. That way:

  • Learnings moved into the product quickly,

  • Feedback wasn’t left waiting,

  • The “less talk, more delivery” line stayed intact.

Closing

Software shines most when it reduces everyday friction. Sapanca reminded us of that, and we stepped into 2022 with that clarity. No long speeches needed: less clutter, more completed work. That’s it.
