Integrated Diagnostic Viewing

Why It Matters

In modern dental practice, visual data is the foundation of every accurate diagnosis and treatment plan.
The Integrated Diagnostic Viewing module in Medicasimple centralizes all diagnostic visuals (including digital odontograms, periodontal measurements, and customizable chart layouts) into a single, interactive interface.

Instead of switching between scattered imaging systems or paper charts, clinicians can now see, interpret, and act directly within one platform. This not only saves time but ensures data consistency between diagnosis, treatment planning, and patient communication.

How It Works

1. Interactive Tooth Charting

Access Treatment Plans → Treatment Charting within any patient profile.
The visual odontogram provides a complete, tooth-by-tooth overview where each tooth can be individually examined, marked, and tracked.

You can:

  • Select any tooth and record diagnostic notes or planned procedures (e.g., caries, extraction, implant, restoration, root canal).

  • Use standardized color coding to represent different treatment stages, for exapmple: orange for planned, blue for ongoing, green for completed.

  • Hover or click on a tooth to view detailed procedure information, assigned doctor, and timestamps.

  • Toggle between multiple treatment plans to compare procedures and progress over time.

At the bottom of the chart, Medicasimple displays completion rates (e.g., 1/7 completed) and cost tracking, helping you monitor both the medical and financial aspects of care in one glance.

2. Periodontal Analysis and Graphical Reports

Switch to the Perio tab to visualize periodontal health metrics in a graph-based format.
This advanced chart allows you to capture and analyze:

  • Pocket Depths (mm) — > displayed in purple

  • Gingival Recession — > displayed in orange

  • Bleeding, Suppuration, Furcation, and Mobility indicators — > visually coded for easy interpretation

The upper and lower arches are displayed anatomically, allowing the clinician to assess both buccal and lingual surfaces. You can enter measurements directly and instantly generate visual graphs that reflect progression over time.

Medicasimple supports two diagnostic modes:

  • Six Pocket Charting: for in-depth periodontal measurement per tooth

  • Plaque & Bleeding Chart: for quick oral hygiene and inflammation monitoring

All findings can be saved or printed with one click using the Create New Graph function, making it perfect for case documentation and patient review.

3. Fully Configurable Dental Chart Layouts

Every clinic works differently, from general dentistry to periodontics or oral surgery, so Medicasimple allows full control over how charts are displayed.

Under Settings → Clinic Configurations, you can select from multiple chart visualization modes:

  • 🦷 Patient Friendly View: Simplified design ideal for patient communication and treatment acceptance.

  • 🧭 Two-Row Surface View: Focused on occlusal and buccal surfaces for standard charting.

  • 🧩 Four-Row Surface View: Adds detailed mesial/distal surface separation for complex restorations.

  • 🌳 Two-Row Surface + Root View: Includes root structure visualization for endodontic tracking.

  • 🌿 Four-Row Surface + Root View: The most detailed option, showing crown and root regions distinctly.

You can also define a different chart type for proforma documents, ensuring that clinical staff see detailed charts while patients receive a simplified view.

This level of configurability helps multi-specialty clinics maintain consistent but personalized diagnostic visuals across different branches and doctors.

4. Unified Diagnostic Context

The real strength of Integrated Diagnostic Viewing lies in how it connects multiple diagnostic layers:

  • The tooth chart reflects treatment progress visually.

  • The Perio chart provides clinical depth and numerical analysis.

  • The treatment list synchronizes automatically with diagnostic markings.

This way, every change; whether completing a root canal or updating pocket depth, immediately updates the patient’s entire clinical view.

No data duplication. No manual syncing.

💡 Best Practices for Clinics

  • Update visuals after each appointment to maintain an accurate clinical history.

  • Train all doctors to use the same color codes to ensure consistent visual communication across the team.

  • Use Patient Friendly View during case presentations to improve understanding and treatment acceptance.

  • Pair diagnostic visuals with uploaded images or radiographs from the Media tab for a complete picture of the patient’s oral health.

  • Regularly export perio charts to monitor long-term periodontal stability and support preventive care programs.
