Collecting GDPR Consent

Use the updated consent flow to send a consent link automatically after patient registration, let patients review the notice, and record their consent without asking for a code.

Updated

Medicasimple’s consent infrastructure has been updated. Existing consent forms from the previous setup remain available, so clinics can continue their current workflow if they do not want to change anything immediately. In the updated flow, once a patient is registered, the consent link can be sent automatically and the clinic team no longer needs to ask the patient to read back a verification code.

  1. Register the patient as usual.

  2. If your SMS automations are active, Medicasimple sends the consent link automatically after registration.

  3. The patient opens the link, reviews the notice text, and confirms the explicit consent text.

  4. If you selected a follow-up form, the patient is redirected to it after consent. For example, they can complete an anamnesis form immediately after confirming consent.

  5. The patient profile then shows the completed consent record and any follow-up form under Forms.

In the updated flow, the patient completes the process from the link. The consent record shows when the consent was completed and which contact details were used.

What the patient sees

When the patient opens the link, they see the consent screen. If the patient’s phone language is English, the screen can open in English. The patient can review the notice text first, then confirm the explicit consent text and continue.

If a follow-up form is selected, the patient is redirected to that form after consent. For example, if an anamnesis form is selected, the patient can complete it in the same flow and both records will appear in the patient profile.

If the patient cannot find the SMS, or if you need to collect consent from an existing patient, open the patient profile and resend the consent link from the Forms area. The same flow can also be sent by email if your email automations are configured.

If a patient wants to withdraw consent, they can use the same SMS or email link to open the consent flow and withdraw the consent they previously gave. If they cannot find the message, resend the link from the patient profile.

What happens to existing consent forms?

Existing consent forms have been migrated and remain visible in patient profiles. Once a consent text has been used, it should remain available for the historical record and cannot be edited directly. If you need to change the text, create a new form, activate it, and use the new version going forward.

Consent text is legal content. Review the final wording with your clinic’s legal advisor before using it with patients.
