💱 Multiple Currency
With Multiple Currency support, your clinic can accept and record payments in different currencies such as USD, EUR, GBP, or AED; depending on your patients’ location or payment preference.
This feature is especially valuable for clinics serving international patients, ensuring that every transaction is recorded accurately in both the original and base currencies.

Why It Matters
Flexibility for global patients: Accept payments from international patients in their preferred currency.
Accurate financial tracking: Every payment automatically converts to your clinic’s base currency using daily exchange rates.
Transparent communication: Both staff and patients can view the original and converted amounts on invoices and reports.
Streamlined reporting: Simplifies reconciliation and ensures precise accounting across multiple currencies.

Managing Visible Currencies
The list of currencies available throughout Medicasimple; including payment dropdowns, reports, and financial records is managed from your Clinic Configurations page.
To customize which currencies appear in the system:
Go to Settings → My Clinic → Clinic Configurations.
Scroll down to the “Shown Currencies” field.
Select or remove the currencies you want displayed in all payment and reporting dropdowns.
Click Save to apply your settings.
Only the currencies you enable here will appear in:
The Add Payment window
The Online Payment module
Financial reports and balance summaries
This configuration ensures your clinic only sees relevant currencies, keeping financial workflows clear and organized; especially if you operate in multiple regions.

Recording Multi-Currency Payments
You can record multi-currency payments through:
In-person payments (cash or card)
Online payments (via link or QR code)
To record:
Go to Add Payment under the patient’s treatment plan.
Choose the payment currency from the dropdown list.
Enter the received amount.
The system will automatically calculate and show the equivalent value in your base currency.

Split / Mixed-Currency Payments (e.g., €50 + $50)
Some patients may choose to pay using two different currencies. For example, part in euros and part in US dollars.
Medicasimple fully supports this type of split or mixed-currency payment by treating each currency as an independent transaction line under the same payment record.
How to Record
Open Add Payment.
Add the first line (e.g., €50, EUR).
Add another line (e.g., $50, USD).
The system automatically converts each to your base currency using the daily rate and calculates the total.
Example
Currency | Amount | Exchange Rate | Converted to (GBP) |
EUR | €50 | 0.86 | £43.00 |
USD | $50 | 0.79 | £39.50 |
Total (Base) | £82.50 |
Each original and converted value is stored for transparent financial reporting and compliance.

Exchange Rate Handling
Exchange rates are automatically updated once per day using verified currency APIs.
These rates are applied at the moment of payment creation and remain fixed to preserve historical accuracy. Manual rate editing is allowed for authorized finance users when dealing with offline or backdated transactions.

Reporting & Reconciliation
Reports show both the original currency and converted value.
Exchange rates update daily from verified sources.
Exports are always in your base currency for unified accounting.
Historical integrity: the original rate at the time of payment is locked and stored permanently.

Summary
The Multiple Currency feature allows your clinic to handle global transactions effortlessly.
It provides your international patients with a smoother experience, ensures transparent and compliant records, and keeps your financial reports accurate — no matter how many currencies you operate with.
